Ukraine: Peace talks with Russia ‘frozen’

Podoljak, the adviser to the Chief of the Office of the President of Ukraine and a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the Ukrainian-Russian negotiation, pointed out that the peace talks with Russia have actually been frozen, and it is difficult to say when the next direct talks will be realized.

China News Agency reported that Mykhailo Podolyak pointed out on Tuesday (April 19) that Russia is focusing on the second phase of the special military operation currently being carried out in the Donbass, so it has no time to consider negotiations.

In addition, according to Ukrainian media reports, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba said in an interview on the same day that the Ukrainian-Russian conflict will be decided on the battlefield, not at the negotiating table. He emphasized that this issue cannot be resolved through diplomatic negotiations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously said talks will continue regardless. But in a recent speech, Zelensky said the talks would come to an end if Russia eliminated the Ukrainian defenders of Mariupol.
