The United Nations launches a global campaign to support equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines

On Thursday (11th) the United Nations launched a global campaign called “Just work together”, calling for concerted action around the world to ensure that all countries and regions have fair access to COVID-19 vaccines.

United Nations Secretary-General Guterres issued a video message on the same day, saying that the coronavirus vaccine must be regarded as a global public product. No country can overcome this crisis alone. Countries should share vaccines and technologies to increase vaccine supply and speed up distribution. Only by working together globally can we protect medical staff and the most vulnerable people in the world, end the COVID-19 pandemic and restore the economy and normal life.

At the UN Security Council’s public debate on the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines held last month, Guterres stated that there are serious regional imbalances and unfairness in vaccination. Vaccine fairness is the most severe moral test currently facing human society.
